Oasis of the Seas

The world’s largest and most innovative cruise ship, “Oasis of the Seas”, is dry-docked at Keppel Verolme’s shipyard in Rotterdam for routine maintenance work.
Besides maintenance work, Keppel Verolme’s work scope on “Oasis of the Seas” includes painting of the ship’s hull and replacement of one of its engines.

Norwegian Getaway

On November 27th  the cruise vessel Norwegian Getaway visited the Keppel Verolme yard for a short stay in drydock no. 7.
She left on the 29th of November. 

Scarabeo 5

Keppel Verolme is completing a full SPS programme for Saipem on the semi-submersible Scarabeo 5. The yard’s scope of work comprises the overhaul of the thrusters, all anchor winches, top drive upgrade and various modification and repairs.

Keppel Verolme conducting a special periodic survey (SPS) on the jackup rig Rowan Gorill Vi, for Rowan Drilling. This includes painting of the hull, inspection of spud cans, renewal of anodes and isntallation of dock plugs among other things.
The rig will aso have its drilling equipment upgraded and is expected to be delivered by 1Q 2014.

 

Thialf

The DCV Thialf over 200 meter in length and 88 meter wide arrived in the last week of 2011. On 10 January 2012 the Thialf shifted in drydock for maintenance and a painting programme. It's vessel's first dry docking since its new built delivery in 1985.

The Ekofisk Accommodation Jack-Up rig COSL Rigmar of owner COSL Drilling Europe AS, a subsidiary to China Oilfield Services Limited, arrived at the the Keppel Verolme yard on May 12, 2012.

The rig was in our yard for its 5 year SPS. On 20 June the rig undocked, 5 days before schedule. Client's appreciation resulted in a bonus for early delivery and completion without LTI's.

Scarabeo 6

The Scarabeo 6 arrived in the Keppel Verolme shipyard in spring 2012 for a period of six months.

Work on the rig included upgrading its drilling capabilities to a water depth of 1,200 metres, the prefabrication and installation of various deck extensions, and the renewal of traction winches, cable spooling winches and double riser tensioners. A new storage area for risers has been constructed and new sponsons and blisters areinstalled to accommodate the new winches as well as enhance buoyancy and stability. The maintenance programme ncluded refurbishment of the accommodation. The Scrabeo 6 left the yard on 2 December 2012.

The vessel, build at Keppel FELS is able to operate in harsh environments and up to 65 meters in water depth - the deepest for such vessels – as well as carry a wide variety of foundations and turbines.The vessel visited the Keppel Verolme yard briefly before service.

Saipem 7000

In November 2012 the semi-submersible crane vessel Saipem 7000 arrived at the Keppel Verolme yard for maintenance. This giant crane vessel was drydocked on 23 January 2013. The Saipem 7000 left the yard on 25 February 2013.

Mighty Servant 1

On April 4, 2013 the heavy-lift vessel Mighty Servant 1 of Dockwise arrived at the Keppel Verolme yard for re-positioning of the vessel’s existing floatation towers and installation of two additional ones.

Global Tech 1

In 2013 Keppel Verolme BV, (Keppel Verolme) a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine Limited (Keppel O&M), has successfully completed and installed a floating, self-erecting substation platform Global Tech 1, at an offshore wind park in the German Exclusive Economic Zone in the North Sea.

Installed at a water depth of 40 meters, the substation platform will collect and step up the electricity generated by the offshore wind park's 80 wind generating turbines, each with a capacity of 5 MW, to feed into Germany's national power grid. It is also equipped with critical control systems to serve as a backup power supply for the wind farm in case of emergencies and provides permanent accommodation for up to 32 people. This substation platform contains transformers and high voltage switchgear integrated onto a Mobile Offshore Application Barge (MOAB), a specialised barge designed and developed by Overdick GmbH & Co.

Keppel Verolme carried out the detailed engineering and construction of the MOAB at its yard in Rotterdam while its consortium partner, Alstom Grid GmbH (Alstom), supplied and installed the medium and high voltage equipment, power transformers as well as the protection and control systems. . The platform is the centre piece of the Global Tech 1 North Sea wind park where the electricity generated by its 80 wind turbines is merged and the voltage transformed from 33 to 155 kilovolt. Currently still under construction, Global Tech I is located approximately 100 km from the Dutch shore. When fully operational, this wind park will be capable of generating some 1.4 billion kilowatthours (kWh) of electrical energy annually, supplying 445.000 households with clean energy.
